Our Point Of View

Red Hawk Golf and Resort offers everything that the casual or serious golfer can want.  The facility is perfectly suited for the hardiest of souls determined to play 36 holes in a day, especially groups playing a Ryder Cup or team-vs-team, multi-day format.  The distinctly different courses, Lakes and Hills, offer experiences that couldn’t be more different.  The casual golfer interested in a single daily round, will find it just as accommodating, but be sure to play them both on separate days if your itinerary allows.  David’s Grill is well known by local residents for its superb food and cocktails, and great course maintenance and service standards promise great lies, smooth greens, and tidy surrounds.   It’s eastern valley location makes it more suited for year-round play.

Course #1

Lake Course

Enjoy your day amid natural lakes, murmuring springs, and mature cotton wood trees on this Robert Trent Jones Jr. designed course. The 7,410-yard course offers a multitude of dramatic scenes as the natural desert landscape flows in and around the green expanse of the course. This Reno NV golf course puts the perfect amount of water, sand, and grass together to give you an experience you won’t soon forget.

Course #2

Hill Course

Three-Time U.S. Open Champion Hale Irwin was instrumental in bringing soul and purpose to his Signature Design Hills Course. This 7,106- yard golf course is known for its small greens, dramatic elevation changes and deep bunkers. The undulating fairways, surrounding mountains, big sky views, and natural wildlife create breathtaking panoramic views of the entire Spanish Springs Valley. Incorporating aspects of what was once a working ranch and adding crystal clear lakes for an additional challenge, Hale created a course that brings every club out of the bag and into play. A true experience you can’t get at other golf resorts in Reno NV.

The Lakes Course Scorecard

18 Holes | Par 72

The “HACK”

Flatter terrain of the Lakes Course makes for a straight-forward distance evaluation and simpler and more accurate club selection.
Once in the meadow, away from the holes adjacent to homes, the waterfowl and variety of bird species are unbelievable. They add a pleasant distraction to your round.
Grab a “Back Nine Burger” off David’s Grill menu at the turn. The bacon jam is unreal!
The Hilles Course Scorecard

18 Holes | Par 71

The “HACK”

Be sure to stock up on beverages and a bite before tee off. The front nine does not return to the main clubhouse, and who wants to be without a whistle-wetter!?
Club selection becomes critical on the Hills Course! A range finder with altitude adjustment is paramount for accuracy.
The bar at David’s Grill is fantastic! Lots of spirits to choose from and a variety of specialty cocktails will make any bad round soon forgotten.

Stayed at Red Hawk, Sparks last Dec. for a golf weekend with my buddy. We had an amazing 4 days, the accommodations in... the Villas are awesome, Dave's Restaurant was fabulous (we ate breakfast/dinner for 3 days straight) we never ate the same thing and All of the food was excellent, the staff was beyond friendly/courteous even in the middle of this pandemic making us feel like they were happy we were there, AND THEN there was Terri at the front desk/phone, I will stay at Red Hawk EVERYTIME I come to Reno/Sparks just because of the way she talks to the customers and makes you feel like you are the most important conversation of the day. She is AMAZING, if you have a room available when I am traveling to or through Reno/Sparks, I WILL STAY AT RED HAWK. Thank You ALL Sooo much for taking care of us little people....read more

What an amazing group of people to work with! We had to postpone our original 2020 date due to COVID and when we did... Stephanie was more than accommodating, whatever we wanted to do she was more than happy to make it happen. She even offered to give our deposit back if we changed our minds about hosting a large event, we opted to reschedule for August 2021.As we approached our new wedding date Stephanie was in contact with us and was willing to answer any questions we had, no matter how big or small. Stephanie and her staff worked with us about menu selections, design layouts and linen selections. The week of the wedding we were in constant communication in regards to dropping off the wine and welcome boxes to be delivered to the Villas for our on-site guests.Along with the wedding coordination we also setup a golf tournament for the day before the wedding. The guys had a great time and the resort was very accommodating. We couldn’t have asked for a better location to host our wedding! I highly recommend Red Hawk Golf & Resort to host your wedding or any event. Thank you to Stephanie, Donny, Jordan, Devin, Todd, Terri & Virginia for all of your help!read more

I have mixed feelings about this particular course at least from the round I recently played. The layout was very nice... the greens were fast And in good shape. The price was reasonable. We were the 1st out after a tournament. We asked if there would be a cart is a cart with refreshments on the course they said absolutely. It was 100゚ and we never saw a single cart! The sand traps were not very well maintained. A lot of crab grass leaking around the edges and into the trap. But my biggest issue is the golf carts.. Ridiculously sensitive to is sensitive to staying on the fairway and away from the green. The fairway was nice but the rough on the rough on the sides was very deep so finding your ball was not always easy if you didn't Is hit a good shot. But as soon as you got 3' off the fairway the cart would slow down and make you go back. When there's 10 to 15 yd of rough on the sides of the fairway and you have to walk to find your ball it really really slows things down! If we weren't going out of bounds we were just looking for our balls in the rough. On one occasion around a sand trap near the green, But not too close, The cart completely died. It was more than 30' away from the green. It took 3 of us 5 minutes to push the cart out and until it would move again.. This is completely ridiculous!!! I understand why they do it but this particular course sets of course sets the boundaries Ridiculously sensitive!!! I would say it greatly reduced the enjoyment at this course And slows down play. Really a pity!read more

Long time player at red hawk here.Unfortunately the state of the course has declined significantly over the past two... years. The course is decently maintained but starters and marshals are non existent and are some of the worst I’ve seen. They only check to see if you have paid for your round; otherwise they sit in the starter box on the 1st hole and do nothing.Every other round is 5.5hrs+ and when I’ve called the clubhouse to assist with improving pace of play they say there is nothing they can do.4/5 course condition0/5 course management1/5 value for your moneyread more
