Our Point Of View

This private club is typically inaccessible to public play, but Golf the High Sierra is able to book groups of all sizes due to its relationship with the club, typically after 10am any day of the week.  And you should take advantage of it!  Somersett is a true championship golf course, with the level of difficulty being left up to you.  Five sets of tee boxes and two combo tee layouts offer you the challenge you’re after.  Large, multi-tiered greens will create two-putt aspirations, but green trueness is always reliable with their exquisite course maintenance standards.  The new clubhouse is the perfect venue for a post-round libation or group lunch or dinner.

Shorter hitters may opt for 5,912 yards from the Peavine Tees or go at 5,216 yards from the Rose Tees. Wherever you decide to play from, you will enjoy the generous landing areas of perfectly groomed emerald bluegrass fairways. Somersett’s many elevation changes allow for many spectacular panoramic views of the Nevada high desert.

Jewel of Reno

While looking up you may catch a glimpse of a hawk or golden eagle, at eye level you may see deer or a coyote but facing down our fairways you will surely take note of the 62 white sand bunkers and 7 lakes. This private country club has quickly become a jewel of Reno and is available for groups after 12pm if booked through Golf the High Sierra. Named one of Golfweek’s top private residential courses, Somersett Country Club has found its distinction as a secret, must-play that should be included on any Reno/Tahoe golf trip itinerary.

Although I am not a member I have been a few times and enjoyed every meal that I have had. The staff is always... pleasant, respectful and helpful. I attended an event recently and the chef and the staff selected to help did an outstanding job. This club is very elegant and comfortable, and provides a wonderful relaxing atmosphere to enjoy any time of more

Ordered Christmas dinner for pickup on 24th. Bad idea. Food was in tiny cardboard boxes. By the time I was ready to... eat on the 25th, salad so dead impossible to eat. Walnuts were mostly burned. Roasted veggies and potatoes tasteless. Mystery meat was supposed to be turkey but I didn't eat. Have never seen turkey with a layer of fat under the skin. A terrible waste of time, effort and more

What a great course, always a treat when i get to play it. When ya get a birdie or a par, you definitely earn it! One... of those courses you can play 3 times a week for a whole season and not get bored. If you can become a member, do it! Great food and bar as well. Employees all super nice. Try it out!read more
