Course selection in Reno is driven by group size. Under 40 players, nearly any course works with maximum date flexibility. Over 80 players, you need a course with shotgun start capacity and on-site catering. Over 150 players, your options in the immediate Reno area are ArrowCreek, Wolf Run, and Red Hawk Golf Resort.
Format matters too. A scramble with prizes runs fine at any public course. A full tournament with net scoring and a banquet requires a course with scoring software, an events coordinator, and a separate banquet room — Wolf Run has all three.
Course selection by group type
Executive retreats (8–20 players): ArrowCreek Golf Club is the right answer — Arnold Palmer design, private-club conditioning, exclusive access through GTHS. Edgewood Tahoe (45 min from Reno) is the bucket-list option where the course itself is the statement.
Mid-size outings (20–80 players): Somersett Golf & Country Club is Golfweek-ranked, private, and handles groups well. Wolf Run has dedicated event infrastructure at a price point that works for budget-conscious corporate clients.
Large tournament events (80–400 players): Wolf Run is the primary Reno-area venue built for this scale. Red Hawk Golf Resort in Redding (2.5 hours from Reno) handles events up to 400 players with full tournament services.
