Golf Where It Began
The Old Course at St Andrews is the oldest golf course in the world. Kingsbarns Golf Links — Par 72, 7,224 yards, designed by Kyle Phillips — runs along 1.8 miles of North Sea coastline and hosts the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship. These are not bucket list courses in the way Pebble Beach is — they are the origin of the game itself. GTHS has planned Scotland trips and coordinates all logistics under one contract, from tee time booking to Fairmont room blocks.
A 5-night St Andrews itinerary covers four courses: Kingsbarns, Old Course, Jubilee, and Strathtyrum — all within the St Andrews area. The Fairmont St Andrews sits on the Fife coastline with two additional on-site courses (Torrance and Kittocks) for groups who want extra rounds. Groups fly into Edinburgh or Glasgow — GTHS handles everything from arrival in Scotland.

Scotland Golf FAQ
What are the best golf courses in Scotland for a group trip?+
For a bucket list Scotland golf trip, GTHS books four courses in the St Andrews area: Kingsbarns Golf Links (Par 72, 7,224 yards, Kyle Phillips design along 1.8 miles of North Sea coastline, host of the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship), the Old Course at St Andrews (Par 72, 7,305 yards, oldest golf course in the world), the Jubilee Course (St Andrews Links), and the Strathtyrum Course (St Andrews Links). All four are on our 2026 Scotland itinerary. Every booking is coordinated under one GTHS contract.
How much does a Scotland golf trip cost?+
Scotland golf packages through GTHS start from $8,216 per golfer based on a real documented trip: 5 nights at Fairmont St Andrews, 4 rounds including Kingsbarns and the Old Course, group of 8. Pricing depends on group size, course selection, lodging tier, and travel dates. Larger groups typically reduce the per-person cost. International golf packages are custom-built — request a quote and we will build an itinerary around your group's budget and must-play courses.
Where do groups stay on a Scotland golf trip?+
GTHS uses Fairmont St Andrews as the primary base for Scotland golf groups. The Fairmont sits on the Fife coastline, postcode KY16 8PN, and has two on-site courses — Torrance and Kittocks — for additional rounds. It is within 30 minutes of Kingsbarns and steps from the Old Course. For groups with different budgets, we can identify alternative St Andrews area accommodation — request a custom quote with your preferred lodging tier.
When is the best time to play golf in Scotland?+
May through September is the prime Scotland golf season. June and July deliver the longest daylight hours — up to 18 hours in St Andrews — ideal for early morning or late evening rounds. May and September offer the best balance of good conditions and slightly lower pricing than peak July–August. Weather is variable year-round; layers and waterproofs are essential regardless of month. Most St Andrews Links courses are open year-round.
Can GTHS book the Old Course at St Andrews for groups?+
Yes. The Old Course is public and open to all, but advance booking is essential for groups. The ballot system for individual tee times runs alongside advance reservations for groups. GTHS coordinates group bookings well in advance and combines the Old Course with Kingsbarns, Jubilee, and Strathtyrum across a 5-night itinerary. We handle all logistics under one contract.
What is included in a Scotland golf package from GTHS?+
Every Scotland golf package includes tee times at agreed courses (Kingsbarns, Old Course, Jubilee, Strathtyrum or custom selection), lodging at Fairmont St Andrews or equivalent, full coordination under one contract, and online registration so group members can book and pay individually. International travel and flights are not included in the package — groups arrange their own flights to Edinburgh or Glasgow. GTHS coordinates everything from arrival in Scotland through departure.
