Our Point of View

Lake Tahoe Golf Course is a special place, mostly due to its aesthetics.  It is set within a beautiful meadow and surrounded by massive pine trees and majestic granite peaks.  The course is relatively flat and fairly open, so it can be kind to a wayward shot, but the mature pines and cottonwoods and lush native grasses can cause problems if you’re not accurate.  Scoring shouldn’t be the primary focus here.  Enjoy the views and the oneness you’ll feel with nature during your round.  Lake Tahoe Golf Course is the perfect location for a practice round, the first or last round of a tournament outing on the way up from or back to the Bay Area, or as a specific destination.  It’s also far more affordable than other courses in the South Lake Tahoe area.

Best course in the Lake Tahoe area when you consider the staff, value and layout. You cannot go wrong when you play... here. After the expert personnel check you in and announce your group over the loud speaker (often with a bit of humor) there is a welcoming par5 birdie opportunity. Locals know to use a colored ball so you can confidently cut the corner of the driving range white ball flotsam. An almost parkland layout until you reach a daunting par3 #6. Watch the wind here to carry the river and German brown trout or a beaver will have your ball as part of his dam! The back 9 is where this course shines Challenging holes 10-13 until it elegantly softens into scoring opportunities. Can you birdie the last 4 holes?! Two words abso-lutely!! How fun is that?!read more

During the summer time it can be a great course in a beautiful location! Obviously a seasonal place, there's no golfing... during the winter. Be careful booking during the shoulder seasons since a sudden snow storm might interfere with your plans.read more

Love the course and play every year when we come camping but being priced out. Course in rough shape for $100 and hear... prices increasing to $150. Temporary green in fairway on one hole and several fairways need grass. Great views and love layout.read more

Course was in poor condition. Greens were slow and bumpy with patches of dirt. The holes looked like they hadn’t been... rotated in over a week with beat up lips and grass growing over the edges of the cups. Making putts was not a matter of skill, but a matter of luck — the ball bounced all over the place. As a golfer playing for score, this was very annoying. Course design left much to be desired as well. All this in mind, though, I would like to point out the “value” of the course. With Lake Tahoe GC sitting at the ~$40-60 price point, it is significantly cheaper than other Tahoe courses. If you’re a recreational golfer looking to save $$$, it’s certainly a great option. However, I would recommend looking elsewhere if your primary goal is to play an architecturally intriguing, well maintained track. I know Tahoe golf is expensive, but places like Coyote Moon, Incline Village, Old Greenwood, and Edgewood are far superior options from conditioning and design perspectives.read more
