Our Point Of View

This private club is typically inaccessible to public play, but Golf the High Sierra is able to book groups of all sizes due to its relationship with the club, typically after 10am any day of the week.  And you should take advantage of it!  Somersett is a true championship golf course, with the level of difficulty being left up to you.  Five sets of tee boxes and two combo tee layouts offer you the challenge you’re after.  Large, multi-tiered greens will create two-putt aspirations, but green trueness is always reliable with their exquisite course maintenance standards.  The new clubhouse is the perfect venue for a post-round libation or group lunch or dinner.

The “HACK”

Somersett G&CC is a private golf club and typically inaccessible for public play. However, Golf the High Sierra has unique access for group bookings after 12pm on most days of the week all year long, less special club-sanctioned events.
Big greens welcome moderate mishits and quality scoring!
After you hole out on 17, take a look back down the fairway and you won’t be able to see any one of the 8 giant, fairway bunkers.

Although I am not a member I have been a few times and enjoyed every meal that I have had. The staff is always... pleasant, respectful and helpful. I attended an event recently and the chef and the staff selected to help did an outstanding job. This club is very elegant and comfortable, and provides a wonderful relaxing atmosphere to enjoy any time of day.read more

Ordered Christmas dinner for pickup on 24th. Bad idea. Food was in tiny cardboard boxes. By the time I was ready to... eat on the 25th, salad so dead impossible to eat. Walnuts were mostly burned. Roasted veggies and potatoes tasteless. Mystery meat was supposed to be turkey but I didn't eat. Have never seen turkey with a layer of fat under the skin. A terrible waste of time, effort and money.read more
